anyone have any ideas? I saw one site from the resources page but it had prices that were higher than directly from EBC......
Also, anyone tried these pads? Any danger of warping stock rotors?
Also, I was wondering if anyone had the part number of the Mercury Cougar / E1 brake caliper mounting bracket (for retro-upgrading to E1/Cougar calipers). I dont want to buy the whole bat kit, just the damn brackets so I can go to Powerslot or Brembo rotor in front.

bracket part no. 2B292, cost $ 65 each at Atascadero ford. will allow you to run the larger 278 mm ( whatever this is in inches) rotors.

Be careful, that is not a complete part number. That looks like the basic part number. To be a complete part number, it needs a prefix in front of it and a suffix behind it. Most prefix are 4 characters while the suffix can be one, two, and sometimes three characters.

In the Ford part numbering system, a 2B292 will always be a caliper bracket, but the prefix and suffix define further wheich application it fits. Most likely the there are two part numbers, one for each side.

The EBC green stuff pads are great for the street. No fade, tenatious grip, and very little dust. Had 'em on a previous ride and swear by 'em.Can't help with a dealer , mine is closed now and have not found another. Try their web site.

Curious, how much did they want for the brake pads?

I finally bit the bullet and put together my "homemade" big brake kit. It seemed to me the BAT kit was a bit too high, and I definitely wanted EBC Green Stuff pads.
So here's how the pricing broke down:
2 Power Stop drilled and gold cad plated rotors (278mm) from Summit racing $99 each
2 brackets from Mercury Cougar/E1 SVT new from Atascadero Ford Outlet $136 inc/shipping
EBC green stuffs straight from EBC $84

Total costs w/shipping $427.61
Bat "BIG BRAKE" Kit $479.00 w/o shipping

So saving $50 is no big deal, unless you're picky like me and want Gold Cad Plated rotors

I put on my new rotors Yesterday - they look awesome, and since I needed new rotors/pads anyhow, it is definitely MUCH smoother to tap the whoa pedal!!

The whole job took less than 1.5 hours, mostly on the 1st one because I had to go and find a hex wrench of the right size.
The new brackets from Atascadero ford bolted right up and now I'm on par with the SVT in front at least!
I decided not to wait on the EBC pads and went ahead and purchased PG series Raybestos semi-metallics (also have these on my SVO) and lo and behold the EBC's came in today so I guess I'll be swapping them soon enough.
Gonna give the rotors 3-500 miles to break in to whatever pads going on there until I do any "emergency" stopping
I'll post some pics later of the whole thing.

What's the Summit (or other) P/N for the rotors?

Thanks,

ikarus1, do you have the complete part number for the caliper bracket now? My dealer said I could only order them with the calipers too.

96LX/24V/ATX/Midnight Red/A4 repeaters/SVT exhaust/KKM/65mm throttlebody/SVTsprings and ST200 struts/SE rockers and BAT spoiler/BAT 19mm swaybar/urethane bushings/Kenwood 7 speaker syst./E1 SVT brakes w Powerslot rotors/9005 lowbeams/885 fogs/50% tint/Michelin XM+S 130's for winter/E1's with gForces for summer...and now "New Paint!!"

Part number on the bracket for the 278mm rotors / stock caliper is:

F8RZ-2B292 for both sides
it also comes with new caliper pins and bushings - i suggest you use these

On the rotors, it's Powerstop part number
AR-8156L and AR-8156R left and right respectively

BTW this combo has made me extremely happy and I drove a 99 SVT - I'm pretty sure my car stops quicker than that particular car
(a silver one with 20K miles on the clock)
