so i got a fix-it ticket to have my 18% tint removed from my front windows - fortunately it wasn't cheap stuff so they came off in big sheets - but the residue left behind is NASTY!

what should i use to clean off the gluey stuff? i've tried simple green and Windex (non-ammonia version)...

help! my window motors are going to burn up with all that friction!!!

Quit using em.. Goo Gone?

Tint Shops usually have stuff to remove that stuff... When I got mine done, I noticed taht the shop wanted like $30 to remove old stuff.

This is what the tint shops in Florida do.

Peel off as much of the outer layer as you can.

Get a can of Dow scrubbing bubbles, some coarse steel wool and some plastic bags.

Tape off the door panel with the plastic bags, just in case, spay the window with the bubbles, use the steel wool to scrub off the glue.

You may have to re-do the bubbles to get all the glue off.

It will have streaks, windex will take care of the rest.

I have had to remove tint several times and the best and most efficient thing to use is any sort of thinner, mineral spirits, etc.(I use laqcuer thinner). BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL!!!!! Best thing to do is cover dash, trim etc. with an old towel, then put some thinner in a spray bottle(use the mist not a stream). Spray some in the middle of the window and stay 4-6 inches away from any trim with the spray, then simply wipe it up with a paper towel. This works very well but is still messy, but there's no getting around that. Hope it goes well. Just remember to not get any thinner on any trim! It can take the color out of anything.
