Well the jerking has returned! I noticed it today because it was very hot and humid. Checked the a-arms, they look fine all bolted up. Now I'm basically clueless, one question...Theres a bolt on the rear motor mount that isnt screwed in all the way. It points straight up towards the front end. What's it there for? Adjustment? Andy: What do you think of a shot throwout bearing/pressure plate? Could it give symptoms like mine? I was just thinking because when I let the clutch out quick when stopped it produces the same noise as when I tap the gas and get that knock. Just shooting into thin air here. I definitly got a lemon dropped on me guys, I need a new alternator now. Batt lights on and I'm reading 12.2 on my DMM with the car on! I'm hoping these will be the last of my damn repairs done to this pile! Waiting for her to just go kablooey... I sure do sound like a whiner!

I woudl tighten that bolt I'm not sure which oneo your talking about but Loose bolts are never good. Check your mounts again the bad a-arm bushing could have caused them to get damaged. As for the Tranny issues, I have no problem. Maybe try PMing Terry and asking him what he thinks.

Well if it will make you feel any better, at least your car probably starts reliably. I sat in the grocery store parking lot for a half hour today before the engine would fire up.
Hope you find your problem!

Were you able to figure out what the cause was? Did it just rain? Fuel, Spark, or starter?

I'm not sure what the problem is. The engine will crank and crank but just won't turn over.
It happens about once a month (Pete has been witness), in various conditions...dry/wet. The only thing thats conistent is that the car had only been off for a short period of time (say 15 minutes) after having been drivin. Usually a couple tries and giving it gas will get it started within 5 or 10 minutes, but Sunday was the worse yet, timing in at around 30 minutes and maybe 10 - 12 tries to start.

When you turn the key to the start position, but not far enough to crank it, do you hear the whine for the fuel pump? Have you actually checked to see if your spark plugs are fireing? When did you last change your fuel filter?

Yeah I can hear the fuel pump, though when the problem was occuring I wasn't paying close enough attention. As of now the car starts, so I guess its possible it wasn't working at the time.
Don't have the slightest clue as to how to check if the plugs are firing. I know I haven't replaced the fuel filter, and I doubt the previous owner did either, so that would put it at an age of 4 years. Fuel filter is a cheap thing to try and replace right?

The fuel filter is located behind the right rear wheel. It's to two clips, and pulling the hoses off to replace. A total of 10 min (if that). You might wanna have a rag to soak up fuel. Nothing more to it. I think they are like 8 bucks from TrashAuto or such. I did mine at 30K or so. I would replace at least that often. Good luck with it.
