Ran a report last night on the 11pm news about "street racers" in the area. They are supposed to run a "special" about it "invading" Fairfax county tonight. In an interview about it one cop said they are looking to parents to crack down on their kids. He said "We want the parents of these kids to start looking for tell-tell signs their kids are street racing. Look to see if they are going through tires fast, they have added larger mufflers, they are trying to reduce weight by adding carbon fiber hoods, or taking out the back seats." He went on to list several other things as well. The thing that ticks me off is that most of us just became "suspects." with it. I am sure that (once I get my car back) I will start being harrassed by the cops more and more. Just my little rant.

I've never had a cop look at me twice when driving my '88 Mustang GT (I did get pulled over for having a 4-month-out-of-date safety inspection though, but that would have happened with any car).

I think it's probably because Fox-body Mustangs just aren't that popular with the 16-24 crowd anymore...look at what cars ARE popular with that crowd (which I will no longer be a part of in about 9 days), those are the ones the cops are watching closely.
