Just came in from Mustangworld.com, and saw a how-to on removing a piece of rubber that extends from the stock air box to the side of the engine compartment frame. And then I ran downstairs only to find out that my Duratec 2.5 V6 also has a very similar piece. I was wondering if any CEGer has tried this modification already, it's supposed to more that double the size of the opening in which the intake has to work with.

I pulled my silencer off my SE and put a K&N in the stock airbox. After the ShoShop Y-pipe install, I am going to take off the stock airbox, cut a large hole in this and the inner fenderwell, install some aluminum ducting and route it down to the airdam area.
I am not one of the "KKM" supporters due to heatsoak issues. Total cost:
$6 home depot aluminum ducting
$1 jigsaw blade
$35 K&N panel filter

no heatsoak is good, esp this summer!

Search for 'intake resonator'. We talked about this recently.
