KJ,
My car is currently at CDE for MSDS header install. I know you had it done there too. I was wondering what they are quoting you, and if you remember which mechanic did it (Mike? James?)?
It has been there a day already. Jeremy, the co-owner, is telling me somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 or 9 hours!! That sounds very high, so I just wanted to double check with you.
Feel free to drop me a note over e-mail.
Thank you,
David Uchips@yahoo.com

Supposedly they did it for me only at 450. It was while I was away in London and Boston awhile ago and couldn't make it out to Andy's shop (still needing to hook up and do the Y-pipe). They said that they would jack up the price a little after mine was done. I don't remember who did it but Mike sounds right. Sorry I can't help out more.

DCL- They put struts and springs on for me and I asked about headers and they quoted me about the same time. The said it takes that long because the just don't do American cars that much. Still think that is a long time, but they do, do good work.

well, guess i got screwed. $585 is what it turned-out to be. Jeremy told me that in the past when they did them, they underquoted and therefore undercharged. additionally, they had to manufacture a midsection for a quieter resonator i also had them install. that set me back another $292 for some piping, flanges, and 4.5 hours of labor. doesn't that high for a midsection between the resonator and the header? the only explanation i got is that they aren't familiar with these "kinds" or cars, so it's a trial and error process.
..but what can i do? the work's now been done. i'm sure it's done well, but for $962? with the headers, that's an awfully expensive exhaust system, eh?
the bottom line is that CDE, while they might do a good job, are incredibly biased against domestics, and it's reflected in the price.

My father owns a shop and on some weekends Matt Marshall and I install headers for just compinsation, ie much cheaper than a shop. We have done two so far with no problems to report. Pete and Packrat have them. We also installed Pete's GC and Knoi's.

one question: instead of a flex pipe, the guy at CDE manufactured a ball-pivot-flange kind of set-up that's supposed to give as much mobility as a flex. has anybody ever heard of such a thing, and does it work?
