I was really curious...

Has anyone in the Capitol CEG thought about throwing together a team to run in the Car & Driver One Lap Of America? Usually is scheduled to run in May...this year would probably be too soon to really get organized and field a car, but it would be fun. With a modded SVT and good drivers (team of three), I could see a Cap CEG team at least making a strong showing since that particular category isn't usually that large. Like I said, just wondering...I had talked with a college buddy of mine once upon a time about running the One Lap in his dad's M5, but we never did it.

A road racing buddy ran the One Lap in 98 & 99.

3 words he used to describe it: grueling but fun. He was averaging 2-4 hours/day (mostly in the car) of sleep during the entire week event.

Pretty expensive too- Entry fees, SVRA license, lodging, food, gas, car parts for 1 week will run you about $7000 easily.

I think a CEGr did it either last year or the year before. I don't think I saw a follow-up.

OLOA is ok, but it pales in comparison to The Open Track Challenge laugh

I hear it costs about $900 to ship a car coast-to-coast...

OTC definitely seems to be better at emphasizing driver skill vice your ability to stay awake.

$900 is about right, with about 1/3 of that cost simply to insure the car.
