I have a Contour 95GL, and when I am fully braked, in Drive, it vibrates. But if I put it into park, it's fine. During braking, it's smooth, just when I'm fully stopped, it vibrates a lot.

All the 4 cylinder autos do it on the 'tours. Especially if you have the a/c on. Its just the way it is.

Yes, this is normal. especially with the 4cyl automatics. Mine rattles like crazy, so does my friend's. I have just gotten in the habit of sliping it into neutral every time I stop at red light. - its really my only complaint i've had with my car.

I can't say that I've noticed any problems like that when stopped in drive!

Me neither. It did start vibrating really hard while stopped at lights at about 60K, even the steering wheel would shake, so I changed the plugs, then all was fine again. It started back up again a week or so back after I had a misfire in cyl 3. Fixed the misfire and it was still vibrating hard. Reset the computer and all is smooth again. I can't even tell a diff when the a/c is on, it doesn't change anything, at least on mine.

I notice alot of vibrating when the alternator is really stressed..IE: when the rear defroster is on, along with the headlights, etc. I haven't driven my zetec in a while, but it does have a dying alternator, and the vibrating stops once you turn off some accessories.

Yea mine does it too but I think i figured it out.... Take a look at your TEMP Guage it itz a little WARM the fan comez on at FULL SPEED which makes the dash shake....

I dunno what it is, but it'll do it when I have NOTHING on. It does shake more, when I'm on an incline, too.
I'm gonna try to get new spark wires, cause mines are the stock ones. I hope it helps.
I also tried resetting the comp., when I installed my intake kit, but that didn't help. At first, I thought it were my brakes, which could still be a possibility. I'll keep you guys upto date on what happens.

Problem became worse with headlights/AC turned on. My final solution was to trade it in for a 97 GL with a Duratec!
