Well, I finished installing my new 6x9 Infinity Kappa speakers (the green ones) in my car today. I have the three-way speakers (model 693.1i) in the front doors and the two-way speakers (model 692.1i) in the rear doors. I had these speakers in my possession for over four months; however, circumstances prevented me from installing them sooner.

As far as sonic quality is concerned, I noticed that have a little more midrange and slightly deeper bass (and additional bass punch) than I had with the Pioneer 6x8 speakers [TS-6805 (triaxial) in the front and TS-6803 (coaxial) in the rear]. In addition, I can "crank it up" more with less distortion. This is a decent alternative for those of you who can't (or won't or don't) have a subwoofer in your car.

Now I need to reset my amp settings (gain and EQ)! smile

Awesome. Did you have to use spacers and drill new holes to get them to fit? I had a set of Pioneer 6x9's but they wouldn't drop right in, and since I'm lazy, I went for the 6x8's.

Yup, I used the spacers that Infinity supplied with the speakers. In fact, if there is anyone who wants to install 6x9s in the doors of their "Contiqueo," here is my advice in three words: Use the spacers. smile Otherwise, you will have major problems in getting your windows down.

From what I read in the Car Audio forum, it is advisable to get 6x9 speakers that have removable spacers (such as the Infinity Kappas).

Yup, I did have to drill new holes (with the windows up). It may sound gruesome, but it isn't. I used a 1/8" drill bit on my Black & Decker cordless screwdriver(!) to drill the holes (again, with the windows up); then, I used the screws that were supplied with the speakers to mount them.

I give this job a "moderate" level of difficulty. It's not the easiest, but it isn't difficult. Patience is required though. wink

One more thing: You will need to trim the metal bracket for the door handle pull on the rear doors.
