Okay guys, turns out I had pinned my secondaries CLOSED! Oops! That's why I thought it sucked!

But today I pinned them open and HOLY COW! This thing is like dog-slow below 2800rpm and makes a moose-like noise. But suddenly at about 2800-3000 it just OPENS UP!!!!

It is like you suddenly gain like 20hp! Sorta VTEC-ish (is that a word)? laugh This is very cool. I suppose at the drag strip this would be useful and I will test it this Saturday. Around town, this mod would make driving worse. But perhaps with the EGR mod it would pickup the needed low-end oomph?

In short, I really must recommend this! Perhaps this is less noticable on SVTs because of their high power and more pull. But for us non-SVTs, WHOOHOO!

Time to go smoke some Hondas! laugh

That sounds about right. The magical 3400-3900 #'s from the factory are no doubt there for epa/fuel economy reasons only (just look at the huge dropoff in HP 300 rpms before they open up). The supershit chips open them at 3100, but I'm sure a custom chip set for 2750 or so would be even better.

Guys, while doing some highway/50mph+ driving, I noticed that the ATX shifts A LOT faster. The power is now there where it didn't have any oomph and it pulls very hard. So for any ATX owner, TRY THIS!

Louis -- I highly recommend trying it. If you don't like it, just undo it. 5 mins to install, 5 secs to remove. laugh

Okay, here's a quick HOW-TO.

Tools needed:
4 wire ties
Standard screwdriver
7mm socket wrench

1) Remove air intake hose from throttle body and push off to the side.
2) Remove the stupid black plastic piece sitting right in the front of the intake manifold (fits around oil cap).
3) Look underneath throttle body for a small little rod/lever. If you need to, reconnect hose and rev engine by hand. Watch the piece move.
4) Use about 4 wire ties hooked together and loop around the cable. There should be a large handle-like piece of metal that was under the black plastic. Run it through there but make sure it doesn't touch the intake manifold or the ties will melt. The ties are basically run straight forward.
5) Pull as tight as possible.
6) Reconnect air hose, and start car. Rev by hand again to make sure lever DOES NOT move.
7) I don't know if you can, but attempt to reattach the plastic piece. I left it off, but thread the screws back in at the bottom two to hold the hose away from the belt!
8) Go test it at WOT. It should poke until about 2750 and then suddenly go zoom! If this doesnt happen, you probably pinned it close! I did this at first. I think you will all like it!

If you don't like it, just cut the wire ties. If you don't have wire ties, figure out something else. Hell, a piece of string might work. I also recommend doing this on a COLD engine because you will be touching the intake manifolds a bit. Email me with more questions.

Good luck!

PS: You might want to also try disconnecting the battery to make the engine computer relearn the fact it won't work, but I doubt you need to. This will also trigger a CEL and will result in a "IMRC error". It's worth it though :p !

It bogs the SVT like a MoFo, loss of low end torque sucks, had it on my car like that for a few months, took it off and was like whoo were did that low end power come from. I suggest SVT'ers not to do, at least for the track, try it, but I would suggest unplugging the sensor that moves that "arm" may burn up with it wired stuck and the CEL will come on

I would like to see it dyno'd though see what the real loss/gain there maybe overall.

I'm wondering if there is some way to fool the computer into opening the secondaries at 2800, other than a Superchip mod. Does anyone know if this is entirely rpm dependant?
