Hey guys! I've got a bone stock 00' SVT, and I'm looking to get some mods for it! I've read the discussion for a long time now, but I think I need to ask some more experienced peoples' opnions on what I should buy. I'm looking for performance as the number one critera, but appearance/sound are also bonuses. Handling is a distant third cause I already love the handling of my SVT.

The conditions:

Has to be relatively inexpensive

Won't cause warranty difficulty




That's it! I've been thinking of a KKM Induction kit? K&M air filter? Borla Exhaust? (on the expensive side...), Superchip? (I've heard nightmares about this one..?), Tires? Rims?




I guess what I'm asking is.. what's good for a first mod? What provides the most bang for the buck for a stock SVT? What's the simplest to purchase and install with the least possible strain on the car itself? Thanks guys, I appreciate your opinions.

4 things to start (not in any particular order)

1. B&M shifter - trust me.

2. KKM or similar intake - gives a little power (not too much but its there) looks good and sounds good (on the cheap you can get a K&N and clip it to your MAF for a similar gain, but it doesn't look nearly as cool)

3. Aftermarket cat-back - Bassani or Borla or you can roll your own (I did, I used vibrant components)

4. Y-pipe - Sho-Shop or YoDude (don't know where to get these, ask Aussie SVT)

After that go for suspension and brake stuff.


It's all about balance.

Most bang for the buck for a stock SVT...i'd say a y pipe of some sorts. Then, probably any exhaust upgrade (I also went custom), then I'd say freed up intake (any upgrade is better than none). That's bang for the buck IMHO.
Removing your catalytic converter, and maybe even replacing it w/ a high flow cat has the possibility to void emissions warranty...whatever that is (I'm not making that up, am I?). Also, by putting aftermarket parts on your car, Ford will not cover those parts under their warranty. But that should go without saying...

I'll agree on the KKM and Y-pipe for sure.

Try a B&M short shifter on another CEG'ers car before you buy. I found it to be too far of a reach, where the standard shifter is a perfect fit. The short shifter is better for shorter people (I'm 6'2")

Resonator removal, or replacement is another good one. I prefer not having it at all, others find it too boomy. This is assuming a full exhaust it too rich for your blood.

Get the heat shield from John Miks if you get a KKM, it helps sound, and in your climate, the heat underhood is an issue.

Other than that, my mods are mostly handling, audio, and pure cosmetic (though every SVT should have had an engine badge on the dash from the factory).

defentley get the kkm with teh bat inlet pipe and the b&m shorth thorw to start out with for performance and sound!!! you will not believ the sound teh kkm+ bat pipe adds...then get the y pipe and bassani that what i am doing

i was thinking getting some nitrous and then right away a 3L Duratec.. and a few minutes later a blower... thats what i did! laugh

My opinions, I've got KKM, ASP, tint, Eibachs,Bassani, SHO SHOP Y-Pipe, and ASP UDP. This would be my order of mods
tint
KKM
Eibachs
Y-Pipe
Bassani
skip the UDP and get a B&M or heat shield, UDP do not do much, I'm sorry for all the big UDP fans, I'm not saying it will hurt your car, but just not worth the risk and not much performance.
