I be buying a second car, have planned on it for a while. and when baco mentioned selling his to us in Michigan, I was all over that sh*te from that day. and don't say anything about me being unemployed. the unemployment part kinda just crept up in the middle of my plans and I wasn't about to drop everything cuz of it.

Plus now I can be a true CEGer and not a troll of sorts. smile

AM NOT GETTING RID OF THE C2!
that needs to be made clear I suppose huh?

Just seems wierd you and Mike will have 4 cars between 2 of you. The residual value of the current cars and the additional maintenance and upkeep of the 2nd cars sort of offset each other. Don't get me wrong, the SVT and Cougar are nice cars, but they just keep depreciating regardless. Anyways - good luck!

mostly wanted the 2nd car to learn stick on and to continually keep this "skill" in practice, and hell it'll just be fun to have.

and we obviously don't own them because we have $$ in mind. are in no way even thinking about depreciable values and what our cars are worth to other people. we have no intentions of selling them off in the future, regardless of what any one else thinks or says ("oh yah yah you say you won't sell it now, but you'll see, you will sell it eventually")

and it's not some sort of lame ass competition to see who can have the most toys. in fact, I think we are very nonmaterialistic people, especially me. My life so far has been full of humility and strife and priorities and now that I'm finally at a point where I'm able to buy things that I like and want, I'm gonna do it because I can.

we see it as enjoying ourselves, enjoying the love of cars and living our youth now as opposed to waiting til we're in our 50's hitting some sort of mid life crisis.

oh stop it

I'm not trying to come off as a b*tch or anything, but I felt as though some clarification was in order as I'm sure others must have similar impressions of Mike and I and our behavior.

I wasn't trying to be judgemental at all. If I had a car I couldn't drive in the winter (a Plymouth Prowler or Viper, for example) I would definitely need another car to drive when conditions didn't warrant. Otherwise, it would be a pain in the butt.

A while back I had the SVT and my dad's Olds Cutlass and I couldn't even keep up with keeping two cars cleaned and oil-changed, but that was me - I've got better things to do.

my thoughts exactly kim, jay....
when i bought my tour...the mainthing that helped me decide was what my friends father told me...
he said 'look at all i have, how did i get it all? i bought it when i coouldn't afford it!'

he as a big huose, with enough garage space for 7 cars.
owns:
his first car..1955 T-Bird (fully restored with tons of chrome)
1966 Mustang GT Convertable
1967 Mustang 2+2
1967 Ranchero
1990 T-Bird
1996 F-150 Stepside 5.0 5-speed
and a 40' motorhome.

i think it was good advice on his part.

Kim - good idea on the car. I had wanted it (for $3k and in obviously very good condition) but never would have the dough until a few years from now. Thank God it's going to another CEGer (or CEGess wink )!!
