what was the color of you waterpump impeller when you went to change it? if you read this thread I started you will understand. Basically I am trying to figure out what is in my mothers 99 SE Sport and if we should change it early since one just died in my fathers 95 SE

I am obviously not Mike, but would like to contribute. I have been pooring over waterpump threads for the past 3/4 of a year and have come to the following opinion. It seems Ford changed to a white impeller somewhere in the 1998 build year. I think this must have been for a reason. I haven't seen anywhere where a waterpump has died with the impeller exploding and the impeller is white. BUT, the cars with the white impeller are newer and have less miles, so this may contribute to the whole thing as well.

With that said, I myself am not going to worry about this for two reasons. One, I know the 98.5's have white impellers and although there are many documented water pump problems, the majority are related to before the '98 model year.

Others will disagree; but heh, that is what this board is for.

cool

I do believe the impellar he yanked out (stock one) was white.
I'm sure it's still in the basement, I could check if I remember.
(highly unlikely Mike will be on the boards to read this thread anytime soon so I hope this is a good enough answer to your question. boy do I make a sad stand-in for Mike...)

FWIW, the impellar in my SE when it went was black....it had 107K miles on it....around...

and my 98 SVT, had 34K (i think thats what Mark told me) and not sure what color the water pump impellar was....

MTO RSX could help out...i think.
