Hugo, in one of your private messages you stated that your girlfriend was getting a GTI, and you wanted some feedback from me. Well first off one of the best things is the bang for the buck issue-for $18,000 I got a 2002 GTI with 8 miles on it. 8 speaker CD/Casette stereo, 8 airbags, black leather interior, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, power windows with one touch up/down-pinch protection and key operated close and open, telescoping steering wheel, daytime running lights, traction control(ASR), Electronic Locking Differential, 20 Valve 1.8 Liter Turbo engine, 16" alloy wheels, 4 wheel discs, ABS, full size spare tire. And many other little luxuries. Pretty well equipped for $18,000. As far as driving the car it feels extremely solid. No rattles, squeaks, creaks, moans and so on. The little 1.8T puts out 180 Horsepower at 5,500 RPM, and 174 ft. lbs. at 3,200 RPM. 6,500 RPM redline. 9.5:1 Compression ratio. The car goes, fast. Huge aftermarket, including many turbo upgrades grossing over 300 HP. The main advantage is torque, lots of it,right away. 1.8T's with just a chip are Dynoing at over 200 ft. lbs. of torque to the front wheels. Any questions feel free to ask. Sorry about ranting. Oh, one more thing. Basically the only field the car is lacking in is handling. It isn't bad but there is room for improvement. That will be my first mod, some Billstein PSS9 Coilovers, and some bigger sway bars. Hope this helped.

I'm glad you like the new ride. As the ads say, "Volkswagon makes it better"

Greg,
I swung by Manchester Volkswagon last night to check out the SVT. It looked to be in very good shape based on my driveby. The wheels looked pretty sharp, but a couple of the tires looked real low on air pressure. I hope they sell it soon. I hate to see a car like that sitting on a used car lot. How much did they offer you for it as a trade? If ya don't wanna post here, could you PM me? I'm just wondering what my car would be worth as a trade. I've got 41k miles.

Yeah the tires on there are crap. They said they were going to replace them. They gave me 9,500 for the trade in. I had about 44K on it, bolgna skins for tires and the car was not really starting since I brought it out of storage. So I think I made out pretty well. I still owed Fleet bank 8,800 for the loan I got to buy the car,so that was paid off and the rest went towards the VW.
