Does anyone know if there is a oil filter relocation kit made for the 2.5L. I cannot stand the smell of burning oil every time my oil is changed. Thanks

With the oiling trouble this engines seems to have the last thing I would want is more oil lines and pressure drop.

Also the amount in the lines would need to be compensated for in the pan (I.E. more oil added)

Besides. Where you going to mount it anywhere close?

There are any number of generic oil filter relocation kits, but nothing specific. You'll have to make, or have made, your own hose lengths. i've already put a new oil cooler (air cooled), remote oil filter, and associated steel braided hoses. i'll try to post pictures sometime... And as long as you compensate for the added oil capacity, this will have no ill effects on the oiling of the duratec. The problem lies in the pickup...

I've thought of this a few times as well but have never really followed up on it. The problem with most generic remote mount kits is that they are for the old style Ford filter (Motorcraft FL-1) which has different threads than the filter the Duratec uses (Motorcraft FL-820S). The FL-820S uses metric threads.

Other models in the Ford line up that use FL-820S filters that have factory remote mounted oil filters include some Expeditions and Navagators. Perhaps some parts from one of them could be used to move the filter on a Duratec. It might be difficult to keep everything far enough away from the exhaust manifold though.

I'm working from memory here, so I may be wrong but... You'll require an adapter for 20mm X 1.5 thread. Yes, they are available at any racing parts supplier. I'm planning on doing this mod also, I got tired of burning my arm on the cat and the general contortions req'd to get the darn filter on and off. Remote filter will be mounted where the TC motor actuator used to be.
