Well shoot, I just got my second ticket for 90+ in a 55. Pulled on to a highway and waited for traffic to open up, then took it up to about 105 or so (no other cars around except behind me). Turns out an undercover cop was behind a van that I merged a little ways in front of, he caught up with me easy because I took the very next offramp after I let off.
He was cool about it, unlike the officer from the first time...

So I'm wondering, do you guys have any tips or tricks to help you go with the flow easier? I just can't seem to avoid doing what I call "aggressive defensive driving." Sounds like an oxymoron I know, but I'm not out to hurt anyone or damage anyone's vehicle, I just like to go fast in general, and at the very least do 5mph over the speed limit and do stuff like pull up in the empty lane at stoplights.
Also, I make a trip on the interstate every week and just can't stop going fast on the twisties - the parts where cops would have an extremely hard time setting up speed traps - to have a good time and generally spice things up. Often times this means going 90-120... trust me I do realize this is still dangerous even though it doesn't really feel like it, and that's why I'm asking for tips. I mean, do you guys think "I can't do 'x' because my insurance rates would skyrocket" or ???

I did get lucky in retrospect though, being ticketed for 90 instead of 105-110...

You will wise up when either 1) you lose your liscense for awhile or 2) You lose control of the car at those speeds and hurt/kill yourself or someone else. If you MUST drive at those speeds find a closed track/ airport some where and have fun, without risking someone else's life. The people you maime might be somebody important to You!! Just my $.02!

Sweet, good advice... marry a cop. Damn there'd be more pickings if I was bi or homosexual......
So I guess that pretty much means it's incurable? Maybe I should start riding a bicycle.

Start doing SCCA racing or taking some long out of the way backroads.

However whenever you speed on public roads you will always run the risks... You can lessen them some, but they are always there...

After having a restricted license with 12 points in my past I can give you great advise...

Blend in, don't stick out.

Except for the 2 minor accidents, all of my tickets were for weaving in and out of traffic or driving faster than everyone else around me. Now I'm not saying to slow down, because I still have a lead foot, rather put yourself in the police officer's shoes or car. Will he notice you among the other cars? I typically drive no more than 10 over the limit on surface streets. On the expressway I also drive 10 over but if someone's driving faster I usually match their speed from a distance. And I'm always looking out for the trap.
