All 99+ Taurus 3L V6's are NOT Duratecs. Most of them are Vulcans, which will not work with our cars. Even the 2001 Taurus's have the Vulcan. The Duratec V6 is found on the "Taurus SEL", and "Sable LS Premium" only this year. One thing I have been able to find out how you can tell if the Taurus/Sable has a Duratec, it has TWO mufflers. The Vulcan engine'd cars ony have one. Just heads up when you are getting a 99+ 3L taurus/Sable engine. Have the yardman look to see how many mufflers the car has/had. ------------------ Chris Hightower CEG Mod-SquadCEG Keychainer Contour WebChat 98.5 Contour GL Sport Some mods... More to come. Hate to bust your bubble Chris but not all 3.0 Duratecs have quasi dual exhaust. The early 3rd gen. Tauri had the quasi but they dropped it after a couple of years. If you want to go by appearance you just have to look for the DOHC badge on the fender.

I am not that hip on Taurus/Sables. The badge thing would be the best way since the Vulcan only is a SOHC engine.
Thanks Mister Rasmussen.

The way to ask for the motor is to make sure and say DOHC Duratec. The Vulcans are only 12 valve (SOHC). The walk through yards should still have that much information on file... call around, most yards know at least this much about the engines. ------------------ Brad Noon '99 SE MTX, really blown now!!!! http://www.bnmotorsports.com
