I haven't gotten a lick of work done since this whole mess started. I'm thinking about venturing into the city tomorrow to see it up close and personal. I've also heard that there's a drop-off in Jersey City for relief support, so I might drop off some stuff there as well.

Anyone interested in meeting up with me? I'm not overly familiar with the city, usually bounce through the subway, but have a feeling it might be more complicated tomorrow. I'm not sure what I'm hoping to accomplish, but like it or not, this is a piece of history, and I'd like to see it with my own eyes - TV just isn't doing it justice.

Well, I'm in NYC now and let me tell you, the drive in was easy. Easy b/c no one went in, or people are at the scene, or close to it, gawking. Driving on the West Side Hwy, I could still smoke coming up from where WTC 1 & 2 used to stand. I can't believe the dramatic change in the skyline...I am so dumbfounded by this, I just can't believe they are gone.

So for me coming up the turnpike, what's the easiest way to the scene? I was thinking of either Staten Island and taking the ferry over, or taking the PATH train from Jersey City, as parking's gotta be a mess in the city itself. Or is parking not even an issue because all the police are at the scene?

Very well put Matt. I was thinking about taking a ride down to the site and walking around, but I do not want to get in the way.

Crap, I forgot about Bush being in town tomorrow.. That alone will cause a huge mess. Guess I'll have to wait. I've heard that it's alot worse looking in person vs. TV, that's part of the reason I wanted to go. I was planning on offering any help that I could, and a mask was a definite must. Making a donation just doesn't seem to be enough for some reason.. frown

Sujeet, I went in to today. If you go try and get there by 5am. They have volunteers out the yin-yang. The area is too small to use most of them. Also check this out.. NYC post Unfortunately they don't seem to be using people very well. Then again, I don't think we should armchair quarterback either.
