Hi.... Lately, I've been thinking of repainting my '95 'tour (midnight red)... Unfortunately I can't afford a top-notch $3000 paint job....
A friend of mine who works in an auto body shop, says I could always take the least expensive route, that is: Have his shop do the prep work ( including patching up a small dent in my front bumper, replacing the headlight, and patching up a couple of dings; and Having Maaco in Copiague paint it (using their "top" of the line 2 stage paint job)....

Any opinions or further suggestions?

Anybody know anything about Baldwin Harbor Collision?

Thanks in advance for your responses...

Frank

I had Maaco repaint my black '96 SE. Cost $800 total including stripping down to bare metal all the hood, roof and trunk surfaces as the original paint was cracking and blistering off. Primed and painted the whole car, and even fixed a few dings and dents in the bumper and hood.

I got the middle grade paint job - forgot the name, but it had 'integrated clear coat'. Is it show car quality paint job? Not even close. But it does look pretty damned good, and MUCH better than the original paint was looking with all the cracks, blisters, and chips. Throw a coat of wax on this paint and from a moderate distance looks like a new car. Better yet, put a coat of Zaino on it and it'll shine new. For the money, I'm very satisfied. I used Maaco in Freeport.

If you want to see my car first, I come to the CEG Oceanside meets on Wednesday nights sometimes.

'96 Contour SE, black / opal grey, MTX, every option, KKM intake, resonator removed, Flowmaster Series 40 DeltaFlow, GoodYear Eagle HP's, 115k miles, new paint 7/01. Driven cross-country 4 times.

'70 Corvette Stingray Coupe, Cortez Silver, 454 bored to 462, Muncie M21, too many mods to list, lots of fun. 335 rwhp / 365 rwtq

'02 Corvette Z06, Electron Blue / Black, every option. Stock for now...

Thanks for the response Stingray.

Freeport Maaco is out of business, or at least that's what I've heard.

Next closest one is Copiague, which opened up a couple of years ago or so.

I guess I'll give them a try.
