I just took my 99 csvt to the dealer to get a 2nd gear grinding looked at. the car is in its exteneded warranty phase and is only covered by the powertrain warranty. I left it overnight and the guy calls back and says that since there is a b&m shifter in they can not look at it under warranty i cant see how that would void the warranty. Now i dont know what to do. I still have a grinding in second gear and i am hoping to god that i dont have to get a new tranny. I live on staten island and was wondering if there are any non ford shops that specialize in the csvt or p[laces that you have gone where teh work was up to par. I am the second owner of this vehicle and am just realizing the troubles, after only 5 months. Any help would be much appreciated can email me at erichouse8@aol.com or just reply to this
thanks laugh

Crazy Horse Mustangs can do it. http://www.crazyhorseracing.com They are a bit slow (name a speed shop that isn't) but much of their work is featured in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords. The work they do is top-notch.

I've seen how they take care of cars when the work on them. If Ford won't warranty then take it there. You can also try one of the SVTOA Ford Dealerships.. Fullerton Ford is one.. I'm not sure what the ones on L.I. are. There isn't one on Staten Island.

We're talking about Island Ford?? Damn...I mean they fudged up on me a few times but I can't believe they turned you away. I didn't know the B&M voids any warranty's either....I take it you don't have the original shifter right? I agree with dave on crazy horse...I remember after we got our cars dynoed there I was telling this guy Iwork with where I went and he was like, wow I read about that shop in MM&FF all the time. It would suck to have to pay out of pocket though...sounds like you ate a syncro to me. I destroyed my 4th gear syncro racing....it grinds if I shift into 4th close to redline. I dunno i fdouble clutching it would help...usually don't have time for that lol!

A couple of questions about Crazy Horse. Where are they located? Do they do Ford warranty work? Are they very expensive?

I plan on coming back to NYC and am dreading looking for a good, willing Ford mechanic. I had a short experience with the dealership, don't remember the name, in Manhattan on 10th Ave & 49th(?). They question/doubt EVERYTHING! I brought the CSVT in two weeks after I got the car for a small ding to be taken out. I asked about the ding guards, the tips were coming of slightly. He clamied that was and aftermarket add on that I did. Refused to believe me. Also refused to believe the moon roof was factory. I was waiting for him to ask if I put in the 5 speed and repainted the car while I was at it.

If you're coming back here, why don't you user my dealer in NJ. All-American Ford is 7 miles from the GW Bridge, and about 10 minutes from NYC (no traffic). I have nothing but praise for them. Drop me a PM if you need more info.

Nah crazy horse is a place you can go for out of warranty work...which sometimes, could still be worth it even if what needs to be done is covered under your warranty!
