erockSVT,
Pull the UNDERHOOD Fuses #4 and #11, and wait a minimum of 5 minutes. Put the fuses back in and let the engine idle until the cooling fan comes on. Make sure you have all your lights and accessories turned OFF.

Try clocking the meter at different positions.
Is it a brand-new meter?
What type of filter is on it?
What is etched on the cover of the meter? "STK" or "C"?

i have the optimizer for it. it says that it should have a voltage of .7 to .9 volts, i have it at about .8 volts....but when i slow down to stop, the idle drops and it almost stalls. my car always idled at about 500 rpms and it still does. the pro-flow website says to adjust the idle to 700, but i thought that you couldn't adjust the idle - the pcm does it. all my hoses are in tight, the filter is for an open intake (which i have) the maf and the optimizer are brand new. i get a check engine light either right away or a day or two later....did you have any of these problems? i guess it is too lean, should i compensate it by going to .9 or higher?.....

How many miles you got ???
Have you ever had your IAC changed ?? You might want to try and remove the IAC and clean the valve and the bore. They may be carbonized.
If she still stalls, then you may have to crack your throttle a little bit. Just turn the adjusting screw in 1/2 turn at a time and reset your PCM.
You may be running too lean.

if i have 6,500 miles, it's a lot....the car is almost 2 years old (2000) i tried cleaning the maf and the iac and i get nothing. i haven't replaced anything on the car...where is this screw to crack the throttle? i turned the maf about 45 degrees towards the front and it seems to be holding up, but it still drops below 500 rpms when i have the rear defroster on or the front one on...the car sits at around 500-600 all the time, i want to raise it to like 700-800...tell me how to do it, thanks.

erockSVT,
Look at the throttle, on the side of the throttle body, where your accelerator cable connects. You'll see where the actuator rests on a set screw, that is threaded through the throttle body. This screw is what you use to adjust the throttle position. Screwing it in will open the throttle plate and raise the TPS setting. Do it in small increments (1/2 turn), then reset your PCM.

i..ahem...tried to take out the th fix and it is jammed in there, i didn't really feel like bending it with pliers to get it out. i don't really think that that is the problem...at what rpms are you guys idling at? i figured that raising it from 500 to 700-800 should do it and i could return the maf to its original position. pro-flow said (just got off the phone) that the problem may be the filter and that it might need a heat shield to control the air that is going through it and is giving the maf bad/false readings....where do i order the shield again?, i just ordered the bat reverse air filter - we'll see if it's better than a kkm one...
