Has anyone in the GTA locally purchased the factory amp bypass harness?
I have visited a number of local audio shops but they all try and sell me the same one and unfortunately it doesn?t fit. One side of the harness is ok but the other doesn?t even come close to fitting (it needs to be much squarer).
Anyway drop me a line to let me know. Thanks.

I have bought one. In one car I extended the amp by pass wires with extra speaker wire. In the other I didn't bypass the amp so I basically am amping the signal twice. Less strain on the head unit that way.

BTB, @ Future shop where I bought mine it is the same price for the 1,2, or 3 wire kit. Buy the 3 wire kit. Even if you have a wire or 2 left over you may choose to use it @ a latter time. FWIW.

Hi JCA,
I wouldn't even bother trying to run your new deck off the factory amp..I tried it in my 96 Myst. and is sounded bad. Also, wiring was a pain.
Just go with new amps and wire it up the same as you normally would.
Just my thoughts. Good luck.
Cheers!

Hi, Nrsstc
I should have mentioned that at this point in time I have no intention of using an aftermarket amp on the door speakers, mainly because of money. I will be using my HU only. The other reason I?m only using the HU is because like you said, using both the aftermarket and the factory together would sound like crap and I can?t find a harness to bypass the factory one. I know I could just run wires done from the HU but I hate running wires.
Thanks for the reply. jc

Use the head unit to power your speakers. The Ford amp is trash!

Mine really doesn't sound as bad as you guys make it out to be. I've got both set ups in my cars. Both sound pretty good.

Ok well here is what I ended up doing. I went out and bought a new HU it?s a SONY CDX-M770 (100% identical in style to the CDX-M730 only the 730 plays cd-rw). [$412 tax included CND funds from a local shop. If you want info let me know.] I ran it into the factory amp and I am SO PLEASED with the sound results that I have decided to KEEP the ?premium? factory speakers and amp for the time being! I did however add my two 10?JL Audio subs. This deck has made all the difference, and the reason is that it has independent high pass filters for the front and rear speakers, and a low pass filter for the sub built in to the deck. Also the Dynamic Soundstage Organizer really does eliminate the need for high mounted components. Now I?m sure I will be flamed for this post but honest to god you need to hear it to believe it. Cheers and thanks for everyone's input. jc
