All right, I've almost reached a decision on whether I have a 98 or a 98.5 Contour. (see my sig.) I have only one question left:

Was the 98.5 SE model available with the Duratec, sport suspension, and alloy rims? (Not the SE Sport, since I have no spoiler, but the regular SE?)

Reasons I might have a 98:
- dash clock
- the 98 SE specs as mentioned above
- cloth door panels/armrests (if this is a difference; I know it is betw. '99 and up)
- plastic grille in bumper (as per this topic )
- "contoured" ding strips (not "flat")
- loud horn, though single toned

Reasons I might have a 98.5:
- build date 11/97
- 98.5 (Cobra-style, 8-spoke) rims
- black antenna base
- no SE side skirts

Well, maybe when making this list I'm finding more and more stuff equal to either year ... I give up ... Plus is there anything I'm missing?

Please help!

"Reasons I might have a 98.5:

That answers it right there, after August 1997, Ford built "new" 1998.5's.

Also, the 98.5 SE was virtually the GL/LX (P66 code) replacement and V6's and alloys were optional. The LX became the "strippo".

2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO.
Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

Thanks; this is what I was looking for. I guess I have one of the odd 98.5 'tours with a clock cool

Oh wait... this also means I have to reregister my car in the CEG Registry ... is it possible to delete or seriously modify your entry?
