I read in a newspaper today a review of the '03 Honda Accord. The columnist liked the new Accords styling. They compared the Accords styling to the Camry and Taurus. They describing the Camry as boring and the Taurus as GERIATIC! Ford didn't bring the CD132 Mondeo here because they thought it would eat into Taurus sells. Ford couldn't sell enough CDW127 Contours because most people wanted to move up into the bigger Taurus. Well, now the CD132 Mondeo is bigger than the CD127 one, why not just bring it here and call it a Taurus? If Ford made the CD132 Mondeo a Taurus, this new Taurus could handle anything Honda, Toyota and whoever else ever threw it's way. smile And Ford needs it now. Not a few years from now or under a different brand. Hehe... cause come to think of it the current Taurus is GERIATIC. Sad, but true.

The new Accord is UGLY. Looks like a Kia Rio from the front. The Camry is also uglier than the previous generation.

I agree we need the Mondeo, but it needs to be called the Mondeo (Focus is called Focus in Europe). Mondeo would compete against different cars than the Taurus. The competitor would be the Passat and Altima.

I'm hoping Ford brings out the Fivehundred. Supposed to be slightly larger than the Taurus with the 3.0 Duratec, AWD, and CVT. That would be a fun commuter!

Old Ford managers dropped the ball thinking the 2000 Taurus styling could carry on till 2006. Now, they are scrambling to bring out the 500 and the "unamed" Mondeo/mazda6 car.

It's coming out, but it will be a large car aimed at Toyota Avalon-types. Probably less fun than a Taurus.

What's needed is an import-ass-kicker without an import sticker. The FiveHundred could become a third-generation Taurus, but truthfully either car is redundant. SHO is also redundant, unless you want to stick a supercharged Jag 4.0 inside (come to think of it, not a bad idea). An SVT-powered new Mondeo could possibly whomp up 250+ hp, which is just ducky to me. The larger Mondeo is just around the old Taurus' size, too.

If we can't get the ST220, Ford can keep its regular Mondeo in Europe, because we already have it here in NA and it is named PASSAT !!

The 500 is supposed to be a Passat size car, maybe a bit bigger, with AWD optional.

But, what is needed is a car priced between 15-25 K to bridge between the Focus and 500. The 2000+ Taurus aged quicky and is headed for rental car pasture.
