I'm looking at RWD coupes around $5K. Here is what I've got so far:
-Chrysler Conquest (added)
-Ford Mustang
-Mazda Miata (added)
-Nissan 240SX
-Pontiac Fiero (added)
-Pontiac Firebird (Formula/Trans Am/etc)
-Porsche 944
-Toyota MR2
-Toyota Supra

I've crossed out a Camaro and RX-7, and a few other cars I can't remember.

Any others you think I might want to look at?

Get a Fiero. Low milage, 87 GT. Parts are cheap, too.

I originally crossed out a Fiero, but thanks for having me take another look at it.

I'm not planning on making it a dedicated drag/autoX/track car but it could see use a few times. It's mostly just for a summer car and something to work on (or mess up in my case)...

And of course I don't have $5K now, but I need a financial goal to motivate my ass to actually care about money. Right now I'm leaning towards a Supra, but that could change by next spring.

You're thinking the 93+ model. Between the 92 and 93 model, there is like a $5,000 jump in the bluebook value.

I'm not really choosing between cars on the list I guess, just trying to get a list.

gotcha...
I'm doin the same thing. Tryin to find a good track-only car. Lightweight, and RWD... Mustang is appealing, but too heavy for my tastes.

How about a Conquest? There is one in my local paper for only $2500.

Supercharged MR2s are a blast, if you can find one.

1st gen Rx-7 or the early 240Z,260Z maybe even 280Z. I'm sure you could find a RX-7 in need of a Rotory rebuild for dirt cheap!

I know you said you crossed them off the list, any particular reasons?

Lots of parts available too. www.victoriabritish.com
