Does octane boost 107+ actually work? I think it is made by Outlaw.

If you buy the quality stuff & if you are lucky it might raise it 7-10 points.

You just have to remember that equals .7 to 1.0 full octane rating improvement. I.E. 92 to 93 octane at best (using the larger bottles)

However if you have no need for this higher octane (high compression, advanced timing, forced induction, nitrous) it is a waste of money & likely will actually degrade performance as the fuel has less time to burn.

Someone who knows better than me might back me up, but from previous experience with 'chips' octane does matter. I haven't heard many details about chipping the 'tour, or using reprogrammers on the diag port, but one parameter on other cars/chips had to do with advance and spark curve, which means you would definitly see a benefit from higher octane. Hopefully someone here knows more....I wouldn't mind trying it sometime soon.

98 CSVT, basic mod's, my slowest car yet but still faster than the wife's Talon Tsi AWD. Not by much, though. Now if I could get the back wheels to do something....

Jigh octane is deffinatly worth getting if your car is made for it, I think everyone would agree with that. What is to be debated is weather it is worth it ot get the cheaper octane and use the octane boost. Doing this will just end up with frilled up gas. Buy the good stuff and be ahead of the game. If you buy high octane and the octane boost you may be in for possible engine damage and your engine will probally run poorer. Like it was said before, "...unless you are running high compression or other non-stock equipment there is no reason to get higher octane than they sell at the pump" (loose qoute of course wink ) If you do have Nitrous or higher compression you may be able to find racing fuel in your area at around 100 octane, but it is expensive. Look around, some Exons sell 93 octane.

Oh well hope this helps,
Mike

Many of the octane boosts don't actually raise the octane level of the gas, but rather clean out deposits in the combustion space. As this area is cleaned out (remove carbon buildup) you are reducing the compression ratio. As you reduce the compression ratio the less likely your car will knock.

If you use the octane boost additive, make sure it is safe for your O2 sesor and catalytic converter.
