I know I'm fairly quiet in here...but my car is sick. Inver Ford currently has it and is replacing the fuel pump. $600 to fix. On my way home Monday night, I made a stop at my library, when I got back in my car, it was just turning over and over and over then die. No fuel was getting in. Yes, I had more than enough fuel in it. I've been trying to figure out what happened, what I've done differently to cause it.

Then it hits me. This past Saturday, I was driving by Southview Country Club (in WSP) and someone hit their golf ball over the fence and into the street. I didn't see it and neither did my husband. I drove over it and it bounced it's way along the underside of the car and went out the back side. Has anyone heard of a golf ball doing damage to the car or breaking the fuel pump? That was on Saturday and it was fine all day Sunday and all Monday until I left work and stopped at the library.

Any thoughts?

Fuel pump is in the tank so doubt any damage was done by the golf ball. Our cars seem to have a problem with the fuel pump going out with some frequency. Check the problems forum and you'll see what I mean.

The only thing I could think of it hit the fuel filter and damaged it. If the fuel filter is broken down then the fuel pump will work harder to get the needed fuel through. After awhile it will wear itself out.

I know I can't golf, thats why I keep my white A$$ of the course.

Funny thing about fuel pumps is that you never can tell when they're going to go out. They just die. Mine went out in my Saturn when it was only about a year old. Talk about a pain in the you-know-what! Good luck getting it fixed!!

It isnt good for the fuel pump to drive around in this kind of heat when you are low on gas. The fuel pump can overheat with low gas levels in the car. It is the gas that keeps it cool.
