just wondering if you wouldn't mind giving me some advice. i'm debating whether or not to get an s4. i know that you went from an svt to an s4 and love it, but is it worth the extra money. i did take a look at "issrah's", infact i know him. my cousin is real good friends with him, but i'm just a companion. anyway, i was just looking for some insight. there's one down at burnsville volks that i'm looking at. 12K miles for 38K. it looks reasonable, but then again, i haven't really looked around that much either. just looking for some input. thanks in advance.

Sorry in the delay in getting back to you.....what do you want to know? Is it worth the money - it is to me, but there are some great performance bargains out there...like the wrx. The main reason I went with the S4 was (in no particular order) all wheel drive, ability to modify (and get huge results), great stock perfomance, comfort, incredible interior, classy looks - and it is still a sleeper. The SVT and the S4 are actually similar in a lot of ways...both being 4 door sports sedans that look "ordinary" while having perfomance that belies the looks. There are some things I miss from the svt - I miss the connectedness to the road feeling that you have in the SVT - the S4 feels a bit more detatched...a bit more relaxed. The biggest difference is the torque that provides almost immediate acceleration... especially if your chipped.

There are a few used S4s out here in the metro area. If you are looking at the one at Burnsville VW, you should really check out Izzy's also - he took great care of that car and it already has the RS4 clutch (its oem on the RS4 so you should be good to go with the hp/torque mods - chip). Oh and he's a rep to one of the tuners so you can get go fast parts from him also.

I would look for an '01 model as there seems to be less issues with later '01s and 02s than the 2000 model year - there was a running change around the middle of 2001 to address the turbo/lubrication issues that had been a problem for some 2000 model year cars. Reliability is sort of hit or miss with these cars. I actually ended up trading in my first S4 due to so many problems, but my current S has been trouble free - even though it is "slightly modified". I would suggest you test drive a few - there are plenty around the metro - heck we could even hook up if you wanted a ride in mine. I do not regret the decision to get the S4 and you should be able to get into a lower mileage one for a lot less that what Burnsville VW is asking - you should be able to get one for the low 30s. Good luck in your search.

You should really consider Izzy's car though! wink
