Hey all,

Over the weekend, I had a CEL mad , and I am pretty sure that it is a downstream O2 sensor(the car is running fine, just sometimes idling @1100rpm, but most of the time normal), but I don't want to throw the $90 at the auto shop just to tell me that I need to spend another $130 (I'm low budget wink ). Does anyone have an OBD II reader that could assist me? I'd for sure cough up some $$ for anyone who would take 30 seconds to hook it up and take a peek laugh . Let me know..

If you can't get any help from anyone here, most auto part stores have a number of different code readers for sale (Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc.) I think they're around 60 bucks. Then you can just post the code in a forum and have someone tell you what it stands for. Anyways good luck.

I would love to buy a code reader for $60, however, all cars built after, I think 1996 or 1998, need a new OBD II code reader mad . It is a universal code reader which reads the CEL code for any model, foreign or domestic eek . They are charging near $300 for one everywhere. I hate paying the dealer $90 twice a year, but I can't cope with spending the $300.

So, I just want to get a quick reading to see if it is what I think it is. I could randomly plug new O2s in, but they're like 120 each, and the SVT has two upstream and two downstream frown .

The thing is, they work on all vehicles, so it is a sound investment to get one, but they are so damn much. If anyone has one, let me know please!! laugh
