It's been one of those day where you would be better going back to bed. I got up this morning, (later than I wanted too.) I was going to go wash the car before our little lunch get together. On my way up to the self wash by my house, I just about get nailed by a lady in her Cady because she wasn't looking where she was going.

After washing the car, I head down to roseville. I just got to where Hwy 10 and 610 meet. My temp gauge starts climbing FAST! just get to the bottom of the hill and the gauge is pegged, and the CE light comes on. So I start pulling over. Now the needle is shaking back and forth on the bad side of the red. SO I just shut the engine off and pull of. Get out and the Coolant reserver tank is BOILING over. Stream and smoke coming off the reserve tank. I put my hand over the Manifold, not hot. I touch it, Not even all that warm. But the car would not restart. I had to have it towed to the repair shop (Which is closed until Mon.)

I sure hope there isn't any major damage. I figure the water pump siezed up. I hope thats it, but the plastic reserve tank is melted too.

This sux cus I am already so in debt to my parents, now they have to help pay for this. And my tow to the shop cost me $95.00 I'll never be out of debt.

Sorry, RANT OFF...........

Hope you guys had fun today though. I sure wish I could have made it.

Later,

Dave

Ooooh! Water Pump! Talk to Neil about it(champagne '95 SE). He had it happen too.

OK, your excuse is accepted. Best of luck... However, the other no-shows...

Well here is an update for those that may be interested.

The car has now been in the shop for 2 days. Yesterday they checked the water pump, and belts and pullies. They needed to look at it further, but ran out of time. Today they started looking at the rest of the engine. No real leads so far, they plan on taking the heads off and checking the insides.

I hope they can find something soon. But I don't know what I will do if it has major problems.

We are not sure what order things happened but. The head gasket is blown, the whole timing chain and assembly is broken, and the heads got warped. They are machining the heads right now, and the timing chain assembly, and new water pump are on their way to the shop. They are going to also grind the valve seats. Oh and they finaly got the front end squeak problem solved too. They put a new sway bar, and bracket on the front right side.(the bracket was bent badly casuing the squeak.)

I should have the car back on the road by the middle of next week. So a week and a half in the shop, and I get a partly rebuilt engine. I sure hope that the car runs well once we are done with this.

Total cost of repairs ~ $1500 (Which is a great deal on the labor) The machanics guide says it should cost $1300 in Labor alone for this.

I guess we just pile this on top of all the other money I now owe my parents. So much for getting out of debt soon.

I hope you guys have a better week than I have had. We need to get together soon now that this will be over.

Dave
