I think it is 50% here but am not sure. Most places will tell you if you call. There are even a few that will go over the limit but they will have you sign a waver first.

The legal limit in MN is 50%. The interesting thing is, the lightest tint they have is 50%, but on top of the factory tint this takes you over the legal limit. This is due to the fact that the tint is 50% of light transmission and thats off the factory tint which is about 70%. So if your gonna tint go dark. I have 30% and its still not dark enough. I havent been pulled over once yet and thats in about six months. I never had to sign a waiver for going over, the limit but i also have heard of people signing them, just depends on the place I guess. Theres more, but nothing a respectable tinting place cant answer.

You are allowed 50% light transmission +/- 3%. This is including any factory tint you may have had. The shop who does your windows will have to test this so they know how much to add.
If you have any more questions, just ask, as the information Trooper is only a shout away.
BTW, I would think most any shop can tint almost any percentage you want.
And yes, the previous owner ("CYS") of my SVT had to sign a waiver when he got his tint and it was in his best interest to tell me about it when I bought it. I would think any reputable shop in the interest of lowsuit-avoidance would do the same.
Also, there is nothing allowed on the front windhshield at all. If it comes that way from the factory, then fine. Anything other than that on the front facing glass is illegal, regardless of shade, size or color.

I never had to sign a waiver to go 33% on mine, but they did inform me it was below the legal limit before they started.
Stupid tint law! If the cop has issues with seeing in, just have the driver roll down their windows and turn the dome light on before approaching the car.

What if the window doesn't roll and there is no dome light. Keep in mind, these cops pull over cars of all years and all shapes and sizes...not (hopefully never) just our nice Contours The laws are there to protect the lives of the cops who are out there to protect all of us. There is a reason for this law...

Where can I get my windows tinted locally? I don't know where to start to look. Also how much should I expect to pay for it?
Thanks for your help.

Well, if you ever get further South, P&L in Edina did a great job on mine.
For three strips and 4 tints, the cost was between $200 and $250, I can't remember precisely.
