Well, it took 3 tries to get the right part, but finally found the one with the metal impeller. AutoZone has switched to the cheesy plastic ones. NAPA is the place to go, and it's less than $60. Not hard at all to put on.

Glad to have my car up and running again...also, this makes 700 posts, yippitty yippitty whoot whoot!!!!

I was at about 68,000. I couldn't believe it, took the old one off and it's just a plastic nub. They aren't kidding, when they brake, they shatter into 100 pieces.

How long did it take? I'm thinking about doing it before my trip to the meet next week. I'll be passing 30K on the way, but i don't think i have any spare time before i head out.

It took maybe an hour...not too tough. Just print the "How-To".

Like I said in the General post, the white plastic is not "cheezy". It is a different plastic. I am running with the white plastic with no problems so far. The Cougars are also built with this same updated plastic and have had no problems so far.

The metal impellor adds reciprocating weight to the camshaft. Plastic helps it rev faster because it's lighter. Very subtle though.

Mine failed at 66,666 miles smile
