I just completed a training course on the 2003 Cobra and thought some of you may like to know about the changes in store.
The big thing is that it will have a blower sitting on top. Horsepower will be 390. That puts it up in the M5 hunting catagory.
A 6 speed manual trans is also included in the package.
The block will be iron, not aluminum. The rods are forged and look really beefy.
Why didn't SVT do this before the demise of the Camaro and Firebird?

i'm not trying to rain on your parade, but isn't this "old" news already? On the mustang boards, the guys that already picked up their '03 Cobra's are swapping pulleys, adding intakes and exhausts, and getting 400 hp to the wheels. A neighbor of mine just got one, and one of the So. Cal CEG guys just picked up his '03 vert over a month ago now.

[/b]And tell me what is the big deal about a fast Camaro? Everybody's got em. Chevy couldn't put more power into the Camaro or Firebird because then it would be too close to the Corvette in power. Mustang for Ford is the muscle car so if they wanted (and did) they could put any amount of power into it because it had nothing on the line to compete with. GM had the Camaro, Firebird, and the Corvette. And with power numbers similar to each other they didn't want to take sales from each other if GM decided to raise the power in the Camaro and Firebird, Mustangs competitors.

The Cobra will not be hunting M5s for long... BMW will soon introduce a new M5 with a rumored 500 hp 5.5 liter V-10. The current M5 is fast now but the new one will be in the exotic sports cars category fast.

"it is a joke"
No matter what, some are never satisfied, go buy a "faster" car and shut up.
2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO. Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

Even though it's too early to speculate how fast it will be, I can't conceive how it could manage to be faster than the new cobra with the right mods...

I think the Cobra will again have some domestic competition if and when the new GTO hits the street. We'll see....
