Well, after 9 years of driving, it finally happened. 75 in a 60, coming home from work. Says the fine is $160 on the back, but the officer said I can take defensive driving and it'll be dropped from my record. I found some online places I can do it for $40.
What steps do I need to take to make sure insurance doesn't find out about it? I'm new to this...help me!

If it doesn't go on your record, they won't find out about it. And, maybe your ins co will give you a discount for taking defensive driving.

You can do what they call Defered Adjudication. You pay the cost of the ticket I believe and if you go i believe 3 months it won't even show that you were ever pulled over. I think that is the deal. I'd call and find out the actual specifics.

Just do the online defensive driving. Your insurance never finds out if you use DD to satisfy your ticket. In fact, you send a copy of your completion certificate and most insurance companies give you 10% off.

Yeah, the online course is like $40, which beats the ticket fine of $160. But I guess it's a 6 hour deal, you finish, they send you a completion certificate, then I'd send that in with my citation and it's taken care of?????

Dandridge said: My buddy and I were coming back from Ben's half yard. Flew by a Non-SVT Contour (not sure what model) right before I got on 75. We played around a little bit between 80-100 mph. Up to Spring Valley, back to Coit (thank you for hitting the brakes and not me when that lane ended ) and back on to 635. Glad they didn't nail you THIS time!

PM Summer, I don't know who wrote that....I have no idea who that was. I must have let Infuryum borrow my computer. No...wait....his car isn't that fast (But yeah, good thing, huh?) Here's the scoop, that deffered adjudication crap is now combined with the DD class. I'll be on probation for 6 months, and I have to take the class, and it's removed from my record. I tried to go by the municipal courthouse today to get the paperwork started. Note to self: bring money for parking next time. I'll go back Friday or something.

Man that sucks. Deferred adjudication should have nothing to do with defensive driving. I took defensive driving a few years ago, and the defensive driving showed up on my record, not speeding. I thought that nothing showed up. WRONG. On the other hand, i've had deferred twice, and each time i was giving 90 days. After the 3 months, i went back to court, told them i had no tickets in those 3 months, and it was cleared. Only paid the court costs. And it is not on my record.
