So as I stated earlier, put in the new DMD and everything works fine (actually piece of cake).
So following the manual I put the silicone on the crank key etc etc..
My question is what does that really do?? I have to assume that the key is not cut so far back that it goes behind the crank seal. It seems that the seal would stop all the oil(as it should). I was just thinking/curious on how that bit of silicone does anything at all.
Wondering(wandering) mind???

Oil can seep between the crank nose and the i/d of the damper, the seal only runs on the o/d of the damper....
