I need a recommendation on where I should get brakes done. I really don't want to go to the dealer since they will charge an arm and a leg.
DarkSide, what pads do you recommend? I want to get some that have less dust than stock.
Any help will be appreciated.

From what I gather I hear EBC is GREAT. Pricey, but great. The choice of pads also depends on if you are staying w/ stock rotors or if you are upgrading to slotted/cross drilled. If you choose to go upgrade, then your choices would be Axxis Metal Masters and EBC. These give the least amount of dust and are "High Performance" pads. Try to avoid Performance Friction pads you can get from the chain stores if possible, they SQUEAK big time. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

I am keeping the stock rotors for now.
Do the EBC work with stocks?
And do you know of a decent place to put them on? I don't know if the dealers put aftermarket ie. non OEM pads on.

I had the mintex pads on my VW, I thought they were great with almost no dust. They are kind of a cross between race and street. You have to be careful because some aftermarket pads require time to warn up, so when you go to stop for the first time on these cold texas mornings you might get a surprise. I had no problems with the mintex.
I plan to get them for my SVT. Also If I were you I would do the work myself, its easy and make sure you get the rotors turned, its around $7 each. If you are lost paying $50 or so for the maintenance book is a excellent investment.

I looked at the Mintex on SPMotorsports site. I like the sounds of the C-Tech, but that is about $200 for a complete set. Ouch!
The thing is, I don't really have the skills or the time to do the brakes myself.
Does anyone know if I take a set of Mintex pads to a Ford dealer, will they put them on?

I don't remember the mintex pads being that expensive.
I wish I could help you with your brakes but I have no time at all. The dealer will probably do it but they wont warranty them. The dealer will charge you an arm and a leg. Go to some small shop.
I would like to talk to you soon about the fog light conversion, because i like driving with just my fogs and parking lites on.

The mintex pads I saw were pretty much racing spec that could also be used on street.
I just remembered that I have a shop that I used to take my old truck to. They are also a performance shop that deals mainly with Foreign cars. Can't believe I forgot about them.

I will be happy to help with the fog conversion. There are instructions in the FAQ that are very easy to follow.
Get ahold of me on here, and we can arrange to meet, or we can do the conversion at one of our bi-weekly meetings.

I don't know where you should go but at my dealer I had to pay $120 just for brake pads!! Go somewhere else!
