ALOT isn't a word. It's a lot. If you must use all caps, it would be A LOT... Sorry, it's late. :p
Just wondering, if you like Grand Am's so much, then why aren't you FastGrndAm? No flame intended, honestly-- just wondering. I think you explained it a year or so ago, I just forgot.
My view of the Contour/Grand Am thing (I do know that nobody asked for my view...): I have a Grand Am too. The 92-93 years with the HO Quad 4 are commonly considered to be the quickest Grand Am's (which isn't saying much), it's still a mid-high 15 second car at best. My CSVT is quicker, faster and just a better all-around car. It'll run a low 15, high 14 with perfect driving. As far as this event goes, a bunch of cars with even mild mods running high 14's at best, with the occasional high money extesively modded GA or Contique running what-- low 14's? just doesn't sound interesting to me. Exactly who are you beating on their own terms with those numbers? You realize that the slowest 2002 V8 FBody and Mustangs will run 14.1 right? Factor in the fact that they respond worlds better to even the smallest mods and you're left sucking their exhaust... Hell, I had a 92 Z28 that ran 14.1s all day on street radials with very mild mods (3.5 inch cat-back, K&Ns, sfc's, afpr) and I didn't even think that car was all that quick.
While I understand that drag racing and modifying your car is fun-- these cars just aren't impressive drag racing cars and take extensive modifications/money to be impressive on the strip. Should owners of these cars not modify and drag race them if they want? Hell no, that's not what I'm saying at all-- do whatever you want with your car, just I choose not to for the reasons stated above. I realize this event is and should be all about having fun. But it's a money/output equation for myself... I choose to spend it elsewhere on another vehicle, that's all. I just don't consider running a high 14 1/4 mile time all that exciting, personally. That said, good luck and have fun. I'm just a Contour and Grand Am owner that will sit this one out. (again, I know nobody asked...) peace
