(625 ILCS 5/12-602)
Sec. 12-602. Mufflers, prevention of noise.
Every motor vehicle driven or operated upon the highways of this
State shall at all times be equipped with an adequate muffler or exhaust
system in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any
excessive or unusual noise. No such muffler or exhaust system shall be
equipped with a cutout, bypass or similar device. No person shall modify
the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or
increase the noise of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler
originally installed on the vehicle, and such original muffler shall
comply with all the requirements of this Section.
(Source: P. A. 77-37.)

625 ILCS 5/12-607)
Sec. 12-607. Suspension System.
(a) It shall be unlawful to operate a motor vehicle on any highway
of this State when the suspension system has been modified from the
original manufactured design by lifting the body from the chassis in
excess of 3 inches or to cause the horizontal line from the front to the
rear bumper to vary over 3 inches in height when measured from a level
surface of the highway to the lower edge of the bumper.
(b) Nothing in this Section shall prevent the installation of
manufactured heavy duty equipment to include shock absorbers and
overload springs, nor shall anything contained in this Section prevent a
person to operate a motor vehicle on any highway of this State with
normal wear of the suspension system if normal wear does not affect the
control or safe operation of the vehicle. This Section shall not apply
to motor vehicles designed or modified primarily for off-highway racing
purposes while such vehicles are in tow or to motorcycles or motor
driven cycles.

(625 ILCS 5/12-610.5)
Sec. 12-610.5. Tinted registration plate covers.
(a) It shall be unlawful to operate any motor vehicle that is
equipped with tinted plastic or tinted glass registration plate covers.
(b) A violation of this Section or a similar provision of a local
ordinance shall be an offense against laws and ordinances regulating the
movement of traffic.
(Source: P.A. 89-245, eff. 1-1-96.)

Oh and for Loco (and a few others):
(625 ILCS 5/12-611)
Sec. 12-611. No driver of any motor vehicle within this State shall
operate or permit operation of any sound amplification system which can
be heard outside the vehicle from 75 or more feet when the vehicle is
being operated upon a highway, unless such system is being operated to
request assistance or warn of a hazardous situation.
This Section does not apply to authorized emergency vehicles.
Any violation of the provisions of this Section shall be a petty
offense punishable by a fine not to exceed $50.
(Source: P.A. 91-919, eff. 1-1-01.)

Sorry it's so long, but this is just proof that you can get pulled over for modifying your car (but I highly doubt you will). smile

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I have been stopped for all those laws. Only one I got a ticket for was the sound system . Only $25. I actually got a copy of the IL muffler law and the IL "sounds" law (the police officer gave those to me for a reference). laugh

yeah, those are laws, but they dont count as 'moving violations' hence, getting tickets for them wont increase your insurance or make you loose your license, its kinda like getting a parking ticket.

whatever, just slow down when you go by a cop, i always shift to a higher gear myself.

Oh hey guys, I learned a lesson today at traffic court: even if you do not have to go to court, go anyways! They'll either knock down the fine or give you supervision. I wasn't allowed supervision because I was under supervision within the last 12 months, but the judge said that I could have it anyways!
