hey all, i just got this thing and it's already saved me many times. anyway, i was wondering if there was any way to shut it off when my engine shuts off without having to hard wire it. in another words, is there a way of disconnecting the power for the cigarette lighter when the car turns off? or is there a setting for the escort itself. i looked but couldn't find anything. thx for the help.

The only thing you can do without hardwiring the detector is to change the power lead on your cig lighter from a 12V continuous to a 12V ignition wire. For instance, you could add a fused wire to an existing 12V ignition circuit and remove the 12V continuous lead on the back of cig lighter and replace it with your new lead.

Or...you can add a second cig lighter on a 12V ignition circuit.

sounds good. thx. just wondering, where do you guys hard wire the detector and what harness do you use? i was thinking of just cutting off the end of the harness that i have and then using the wires from that. i'm assuming that it has a +, -, and a remote. thx again...
