Does anyone know what the law in Michigan says about windowing tinting, i.e. what's the legal limit? Thanks!

A four inch strip on driver and passenger side windows. And no limit to the back windows.

I was told that you can't have anything on the side windows or the front for that matter...Adrian :p Isn't it funny that just to the south of us in Ohio they can have all of there windows tinted, oh I guess the sun does shine in every state, NICE LAW MICHIGAN

Look at all the SUV's and minivans with factory tinted glass. Anyway, the guys above are correct. 4" strip across the top of the front (driver's and front passenger) windows, 4" strip across the windshield and no limit on the back side or rear windows unless you have a doctor's note explaining your eye's sensitivity to light.

sorry roger, you can have tint on the rear sides of your car I was talking about the front side you couldn't have any tint on. who cares anyways after recieving my third ticket, the tint on the windshield and front doors is comming off today.

I got a ticket a while back from a state trooper. I'm in the process of getting the form from a friend of mine that is a MD.

I'm in the process of getting the form from a friend of mine that is a MD. Good luck! :rolleyes: The Secretary of State now requires it's own form signed by the eye doctor with his/her medical license number on it, in order to ride legally in Michigan with tint. And the SOS will review it first before it places the restriction on your license. And yes this is a restriction that MUST be reviewed every year according to SOS! IMO, Doctors note not worth it!

Wow, the law here is pretty anal and the cops to boot. Oh well, guess I'll just tint the back windows.

Sorry I wasn't more clear in my post. What I meant is that your side windows (d/s & p/s & windshield) can't be tinted, period :rolleyes: This law sucks, big time
