Hey, I understand you've been working on the 03 Cobra.....I'm wondering if the only ones out yet are hardtops and if you can tell me if there's any easy visual difference between an 01 and 03. Reason I ask is I saw a yellow Cobra vert in Traverse City today that looked to me identical to the 03 Coupe I saw at SZ. I know it probably wasn't an 03, but I've just been kinda curious all day. Thanks for any help.

Both the coupes and convertibles are on the same schedules, no extra holdups for convertibles at all.

Some of the differences that are visible between the 01 and 03 are things like, the 03 has body color side mirrors, where the 01's are black, the wing on the 01 is raised up from the decklid, where the 03 spoiler sits right on the decklid, in fact it rolls right over the edge of the decklid. The hood on the 03 has 2 large heat extraction vents, where the 01 has only 1 thin one.
The convt. top on the 03 is made from a very nice fabric (same as Jag verts) while the 01 used the typical mustang vinyl top.
Overall the 03 is much more muscular looking than the 01.

The front bumpers are different too. The opening for the fog lights are shaped differently. They are oval like on the '03. Can't really explain the '01.

Yeah, I drove a Mach 1 about a year ago. Feels like an 01 Cobra w/ more low end torque as far as power goes. Fun car. I still want a new Cobra though.

Brian I drive past this lot that Jerome-Duncan uses for extra cars, Ford plant on 18 1/2 and Van Dyke, and I think I saw the new Cobra there or does the newer GT's have the same style 5 spoke as the Cobra? Whats the deal?

Ok thanks Rara. it must have been an 01, I don't remember it having the big vents in the hood and i'm almost positive it had the raised spoiler. the thing that confused me was the front air dam looked almost identical to the 03, elongated with what appeared to be a intake vent/foglight combo.

Coulda been a Cobra, Dearborn has started letting them go. I can't wait to see how long before someone hits 500rwhp in one. (won't be long at all . . . laugh )
