I have a question for all my michiganders whom have or had cell phones. We currently have Verizon and personally I think they suck. I have hated them for awhile. My boyfriend needed more minutes and they told me I had to get a new phone in order to upgrade my package. To me that doesn't seem right. So we went with Cingular. He gets 3,000 anytime minutes and 3500 weekend and nighttime minutes for 200 a month. I also got a new package with 350 anytime minutes and 3500 night and weekend minutes for the same I am paying with Verizon and I am getting more. With Verizon I am only getting 250 minutes period. That's it. My question is has anyone here ever had a problem with Cingular? They seem pretty good to me, but I want my fellow CEG'ers opinion. Oh and btw, my contract with Verizon isn't up till the end of august and his isn't up till the end of march of next year. Mine I may wait till its up but his we may end up just paying the early termination charge. We haven't decided what we are going to do yet. It's only an extra 90 a month..no biggie. But think of what we could do with that money!!!! Thanks for your input....

$200! Only $90 more! I have two phones: Nextel $59.95 for 500 minutes and VoiceStream $59.95 for 800 minutes and free weekends. I would personally pick Nextel because they have a promotional deals going on right now;however, the offers might not be available in your area.

Icey Mike... I take it your reponse is a good one??? Yeah can you believe we are getting that many more minutes??? Crazy....We were going to go with nextel but I don't think they were offering any packages where we were getting that many minutes...He uses his cell phone a lot because of his job and he needs a lot of minutes...thanks for you opinion..it means a lot... Btw..the extra 90 we are paying is for the Verizon phones since we haven't decided if we are going to pay the early term fee or not...

3500 minutes is a lot of talking! I guess thats a good deal if his work is either reimbursing him, or paying a certain percentage of the bill beyond 50%.

Sprint is pretty good as long as you don't go above Grayling too much. I use it and I travel a lot across the country and unless I'm in the boondocks, I get a decent signal. The plans are good, minute and cost wise. I also get free long distance, since my friends are stretched form Alaska to DC to Louisiana and lots of places in between. I have 5000 minutes (500peak, 4500 off peak) for $50 http://www.sprintpcs.com

I would have to say that you are getting screwed. Go to your local Verizon dealer or call their 800 number and find a better package! You are paying so much. Cingular is decent, but Verizon is better in my opinion... better coverage, better network, ect. Sprint, (no offense to anyone) sucks, big time. Dropped calls left and right, $hitty coverage area, poor signal strength, and outdated network. I personaly have AT&T and am happy with it... especialy with what I pay. I can definately compare AT&T to Verizon as far as signal strength, coverage area, and so on. AT&T has a better network right now as they are going to a new system that is the wave of the future in cellular technology and communications in general.
Anyway, I pay 59 buckeroos a month and get 1200 peak (anytime) minutes and unlimited nights and weekends (start at 8pm unlike 9pm or 10pm that other providers start at) and free long distance to anywhere in the country. That is one hell of a deal if you ask me.
Anyway, sorry for rambling on for ever, but seriously, your getting screwed, you need to re-do your service plan and you'll be all good... trust me, you are on an outdated plan... there are WAY better ones now.

Do you really need 3000 anytime minutes? $200 a month is a lot to spend on phones. I have a $35 home phone bill for local calls and receiving, $35 Verizon w/ 300 peak crapload of off-peak, and $30 for Sprint PCS for 200 peak crapload of offpeak.
I have switched plans with both Spint & Verizon a couple times. Someone lide to you about not being able to pick a different plan. You just need to contract with them for a year.

I am dead serious. He needs that many minutes. The last bill we got was $1,400 because he went way over his minutes. The only problem with upgrading our plan with Verizon is they are saying we have to upgrade the phone as well, which I don't think is right. And we have a contract with Verizon. He still has a little under a year with them. I know you can change your plan, but then having to change your phone too??? Seemed fishy to me. So that is why we went with Cingular. Icey Mike..his company isn't reinbursing him but we can deduct it when he does his taxes as a business expense. Thanks for everyone's opinions...it means a heck of a lot!!!
