damage seems fine, just marked up a bit and pushed in slightly. if it ends up costing a fair bit - tho it probly won't. i would like to put an svt rear bumper on it and pay extra.

we'll see tomorrow tho

Earlier this year my daughter stopped behind a car waiting to make a left turn. The Caravan behind didn't see her and pushed her Contour into the VW in front causing rear bumper, trunk lid, grill, front bumper damage. I think the damages were around $1600.

Last month I was stopped in traffic and got hit from the right side in the rear corner. The 84 Mercury Marquis damaged the rear corner plate where the trunk lock is, scuffed the side of the bumper and pushed it slightly to the left so that it was rubbing on the lower right corner of the trunk lid. The other guy's insurance company had to cough up $783.59 for the damages, plus $29.99 a day for a rental car. (I've found out I do NOT want a Jeep Liberty!). Misty's all fixed now.

Oh BTW, both accidents happened on the same street!

Pay a little more and get the side skirts as well. Just the bumper would look awkward.

I dunno about the regular bumper, but I got rear-ended at about 5mph in my SVT, and while the damage looked minimal, the repair quote was $400. Definitely get it checked out at a body shop.

I got smashed on friday night as well. I have a hole in my rear bumper the size of two of my fists, and the front is cracked up as well. Total of 4 cars on the side of the road, with me being the first one hit. frown The girl who hit me has had her licence for less than two weeks.

I was rear ended once and the new SVT bumper was something like $800. Cost around $1300 after paint and labor.

I've been rear ended 3 times in my 'tour in the 6 years I've owned it, ranging from 2-5 MPH. I've been hit by a a Jeep Grand Cherokee (lady putting make-up on while in stop and go traffic  ), a full size Ford cargo van (guy staring at the accident on the side of the road that was causing the traffic  ), and a Mustang GT driven by a kid who looked he just got his license and hasn't figured out how brakes work yet  .

In all cases, no damage to my bumper or car other than a small scratch or two. These bumpers are amazingly strong, IF they are hit squarely and evenly. What causes damage to the bumpers is if they are hit by non bumper material (i.e. license plate brakets, grills, etc.) or if they are hit off-center like with the corner of a car.

'96 Contour SE, black / opal grey, MTX, every option, KKM intake, resonator removed, Flowmaster Series 40 DeltaFlow, GoodYear Eagle HP's, 115k miles, new paint 7/01. Driven cross-country 4 times.

'70 Corvette Stingray Coupe, Cortez Silver, 454 bored to 462, Muncie M21, too many mods to list, lots of fun. 335 rwhp / 365 rwtq

'02 Corvette Z06, Electron Blue / Black, every option. Stock for now...
