I'm so friggin confused that I don't know what I should do, but in the meantime I'm waiting for my attorney to call me back. Take cover, the $hit's gonna start flyin':

Had a bad wheel bearing and a hole in the muffler that I needed fixed. So I took my car to this shop that would do both. I provided the bearings and a DynoMax Super Turbo #17730 (that's what's listed on the SPMotorsports.com website). The bearing install was ok except for the driveshaft that they had to replace on the passenger side because the bolt was so corroded that it stripped the threads on the drive shaft. I never saw it, that's just what I was told.

Next comes the muffler. They tell me the 17730 is too big to be installed, so I order a smaller one, the 17777. They install it, but when I looked at it, the tip was touching my bumper. I thought: "hmm, thats' odd, but what do I know? I'm not a mechanic or exhaust expert, must be harmless". It wasnt'. It melted up into my bumper. So I want them to pay for the bumper, or at least pitch in the cost to replace it. They Say: "No way. I'm not touchin it." ooooh, so now i'm pissed. But at least they're going to remount the muffler tip so it's not touching my bumper. I go to pick the car up again today, and ya, they fixed it. The pushed it down two inches. Now I can see the muffler from the side of the car and the tip is ridiculously long and obnoxious.

I'm flaming mad now. So I take the car over to a nice looking shop, and the guys are all ASE (or whatever) certified, and get a second opinion on their work. They say: "this work sucks. Homemade hangers", etc. and they say "is this the right muffler for this car?" I'm like, "i hope so". Wasn't. The first muffler that I bought, before I spent $80 on the second one to have it overnighted to them, was the right one. the 17730 on Spmotorsports.com is the right muffler. And these guys say "there's no reason that the larger muffler wouldn't fit here. The overall lenght on the stock muffler is 21 inches. The 17730 is 18 inches overall."

So here I am, my a$$hole starting to feel numb now that I realize what a raping I received from this other shop. I've called my attorney, he's going to return my call shortly. I don't know if I'll ever get anything out of this since it's probably a small claim to get my money for the muffler, money for my bumper, money for this nice shop to do the job right, and money to cover my attorney's fees.

I'm so pissed, and so lost as to what I should/can do, it's making me dizzy.

First, always get your old parts back if it is a shop you ahve never dealt with (it is law that they have to provide them). Second, you should have checked the exhaust job when it was finished to make sure everything is right, it is your car ya know....

I was having the second shop check it to see if it was done right. The muffler and bearing work was done this last thursday (5/2/02). I had to take the car downstate this last weekend for an assembly, and i tried calling them saturday and sunday with my concerns but no answering machine, nothing. I called them first thing monday morning to fix it. I'll see if I can get my muffler and bearings back, but probably not by now....
