the pay more than the fine thing DON'T work. tried it. twice to be sure. no luck.
On the citation he wrote you, he has to write down the civil law code that you broke. It's some kind of number. Go to your public library, and have those librarian folk help you look up that specific law. Read it, and make sure EVERY part of it you are guilty of. If there is ANY part of that law that you are not guilty of, or that does not apply to you, CHALLENGE THE TICKET!!!! The prosecutor (po-po officer) has to prove that you broke every part, every sentance, every peice of that law that he wrote you a citation for. And in my experience, the one ticket I got that the officer "paced" me at a specified MPH, got dropped for some reason - I challenged it, and never received a court date, or anything. I think the officer knew he didn't have a chance to prove it in court, so he dropped it. Of course, it was a DNR officer too, so maybe that doesn't count.
BTW, even if you are guilty of breaking that law, challenge and get an "informal hearing" before the magistrate. If you impress them with enough research and excuse, they may at least wave the fine if nothing else. You can't loose when you challenge the ticket.
