well, i finally got a quote from the repair shop. $1600 to get a trans and put it in. there is no way i can afford that.i am a little skeptical of this shop though. i want to be sure that this is my prob. what are all of the other possible problems? my symptoms are that it is stuck in third gear, the shifter feels like it has no slots for it to go, and i hear nothing when just moving the shifter around. things i have been told to check were the linkages at the shifter and underneath the car and also the housing. i havent done any of that yet. i will have an abundence of time to check things out this weekend so any tips are helppful. also if it is the trans, what are my options, rebuild it, new one, ect? this car crap is really getting to me and i would just like to get this all taken care of. thanks for your time

If its stuck in gear DONT MOVE OR TOW THE CAR>>>the selector tower may have a sheared bolt...in the BOTTOM OF THE TRANS...pm me and call me Tus...TH

That is exactly what happened to me, and you might be able to get it fixed without even pulling the tranny.
