yeah but to say dont get a suzuki because of a known problem for the bike for just that year is kinda ****ty but ow well to each there own

I highly recommend you look for a Honda CT70.

Gixxers have more than just the tranny problem (and it has been a long term thing, not just that year) they are well know for weak trans. How else can they make their bike that light....everything is weaker (but they are good race bikes, because they get rebuilt often). Teh fuel injection feels like an on-off switch (I rode a few of them), and tehir powerband isn't that good for typical street riding. And another thing.....the magazines all sya they are faster (the 750) than most 1K's....my arse.....I have yet to see a Gixxer anniliate me. My R1 is da' shizit....My Duc is a riot to ride, and my Buell is a torque monster.....and they are MINE LOL

well for one thing the trannys on gixxers are not weak at all. and on how light they are all the bikes now are light as hell so i guess they are all weak then. Ill give you that the fuel injection does feel like an off switch and for the powerband it depends on the bike i feel my 6 has a great powerband for the street and dont tell me your r1 has a great powerband for the street because no liter bike does and your bike should be faster than a 750 but you still cant run with 1000 though bought you got a good bike in the r1 if i would have gotten any other bike it would have been a yammaha r6 they are nice bikes

Suzuki lightened the cross shafts in the trannyto gain the extra weight advantage, and admitted they did it. They have had weak trannies in the gixxer forever...second gear has gone on most that are ridden hard. The gix 1K is a Freak of a motorcycle...should not be as fast as it is....I have no clue how they did it but they did (it is only 10 or so MPH faster than mine)....

well i havent had any tranny problems nor has any of my freinds who have about 13k miles on their bikes and are hard mile to, so when and how quik have the gears gone on the bike you have heard have gone on them?

The majority go within 6-7Kmiles....the others went between 10-15K miles.....now: these are RIDERS. We are talking track days, drag racing, wheelies......not just out with the guys for a weekend jaunt.....

thats what im talking about Riders as you put it about the only thing we dont do is race them on a track
