Hey SVTJoe, tell me all about the sway bar bracket fix you just had done. You mentioned a repair in another thread, but that thread became clogged with your ambition weekend mod plans versus Stazi's dire timing warnings smile .

So back to the topic....

How did you get your rear sway bar brackets welded up? I have been trying to figure out a way to do that but it seems like the gas tank shield is in the way. I have backing plates and new bushings/brackets but again real estate seems to be the problem. Last question, where did you have this work done?

Kurt I fixed mine on Saturday at Doug's Muffler in Mt Clemens. It was pretty straight forward. No real issues with the tank if you make the new backing plate the same profile as the bracket. I'll post pics later.
Just to let you know - my pass. side mount was TOTALLY snapped off the car, and the drivers side one was snapped in one place, in the middle where is is welded to the lip on the subframe.

I plan on making some backing plates for sale if there is anough interest $10 a pair. And Doug said to tell everyone that it wuill cost you $40 to get them installed and what-not.

Kurt, Yeah I had them done like Stazi. I had the guy weld the new backing plates to the outside side of the original backing plate. He welded it in a few places to fassen it down. He then drilled through the backing plate and then secured the new aussie brackets to the new backing plate. No more sound at all. If you need it done Monty will do it for $40 too. He is a pro and will do anything from lowering a car to tri duels on a Duratec for cheep. I dont have his phone number but the place is called. Monteys Place in Waterford MI. That seems kind of close to you. I have been yo him for everything. Al my friends get there exhuast done there to. Tell him Joe with the Contour sent you. Hes a cool guy.

Yipes Stazi! eek Broken backing plates! That's the situation I'm trying to avoid right now. My OE backing plates (on the subframe) have begun to bend downward so I gotta get on a fix pronto.

Thanks for the info guys.
