Well unforunately the SVT vs IS300 thread got locked but I have to say you guys were cool to talk to. Very mature conversation, more mature than the IS300 board by far it seems. Ill try to drop by once in awhie to read up on the happenings. From reading most of your posted numbers it seems theyre pretty damn even (IS300 vs SVT). Needless to say im impressed and somewhat disappointed with the IS. (10k difference in price should equal more power) However, my turbo is going on very soon and I should be pushing 12s. smile The IS300 is very modifiable (N/A supra engine) and loves boost.

Any F/I systems available for the SVTs? If so what kinda numbers can you guys achieve with what modifications to the engine and tranny? Hows your reliability?

yeah there's no question that the IS300 is a fantastic car. aftermarket is impressive as hell and the rwd is a plus in my book. Chris Hightower has a turbo for the Contour in the making right now which is due to debut within the next few months that will satisfy many power-hungry SVT owners.

I believe it's 290 hp and 264 ft/lbs at the wheels with $4K turbo...

On the 10K price difference, your build quality and resale value blow us outta the water

Several SVT owners have traded in for a IS 300, and a few for a WRX...

Are the IS300s hard to launch? I pulled on one twice at the track and he had better r/t times and 60' times. I am poor to say the least at launching my car. 2.45 60' is my best. I figured with him having the jump there was no way I could catch him. Maybe its just him. Anyway, sweet ride. And if they make that IS430, that would really be sweet.

If he had a better 60' time and a higher quarter mile time, you have the stronger car. As far as being hard to lauch, I think it is at the track at least. I had troubles not slipping enough at 4000rpm - needed to go higher. 60' time was 2.2x, quarter in 15.2x@90.5mph. Third gear sucks at is requires either a shift at the end or bumping the limiter for 75 feet. On the street, though I have learned pretty well how to launch.

Anyway, CEG is a great bunch of people. After SZ02, my wife said it's too bad you sold your car. Those guys were pretty nice. IS300.net is getting better from when I started looking at it 6-8months ago.

All things being equal, a rear drive car will launch better than a front driver. It's a matter of weight transfer. Just watch some old SuperTouring races. They use a standing start. The BMWs usually always launched better than their FWD competition and they all had 300hp and of course all had professional drivers. laugh
