i don't really consider this a problem, but was just wondering if anyone else's 'tour idles higher with the a/c on?my normal idle is 750 but it jumps to about 900 with the air on...also the throttle hang is alot worse ,hangs at about 2800 to 3000 before dropping for longer than usual..i do have the normal throttle hang, just worse with a/c on..just curious if i was the only one,all my other cars idle a little lower with the a/c on..

yes it needs to keep the idle up to run the a/c compressor if im not mistaken.
throttle hang is worse cause there is more drag on the engine (getting UDP reduces throttle hang but screws your engine up)

Having the A/C on takes so much extra power. You're basically in a Corsica with that A/C on.

no doubt it feels like i am losing about 50 horsepower with it on..takes away all my power...its just that it seems most cars bog down w/ the a/c on,and most of my previous cars idled lower than stock w/it on..

Every car I've ever been in has idled a little higher with the AC on...

Yep, and I try not using the a/c in city driving as the idle is totally wacked. If I'm going to use it I flip in on just before I get on the freeway when the engine is always at least near its power band. By the way, 195 - 200 hp (SVT) or not, 2.5 liters is still a small engine and I wouldn't expect it to handle all the luxury accessories it is expect to with much aplomb.

Just curious. Has anyone tried to dyno their car with and with out the AC on? Im just curious to how much HP it really takes.

It probably loses 10-15hp w/ the A/C on. It switches off at WOT so that's where I drive. laugh I don't use the A/C unless I absolutely have to.
